Two Doors
Two Doors
(A poem by Sal Godoij.)
Listen, my brother, my sister
Whatever road you walk
The hopes you carry
The doubts that burden you
Everything ends at two doors.
No wall signals the end of your road
Two doors
One opens to the light, the other to darkness
But you won't know which one is which
You can only open one
Alas, there is some urgency in this action
You cannot turn around and leave both doors closed
What lies behind you?
Nothing. It's all gone.
You can’t go back
Two doors
If I may be of help, this is what I can tell you
Whatever you see, whether it's light or darkness
Whether the light blinds you or the darkness scares you
Don't just stand there on the threshold, hesitating
Hesitating whether to continue or turn back
Your heart throbbing
Instead
Step forward, my brother, my sister, and embrace the unknown!
Step forward with courage, with decision, at a firm pace
For it's you who carry the light, or the darkness.
