Living in Desperation

Most people live lives of quiet desperation.

I’m quoting Henry David Thoreau here for the lovers of philosophy and thought.

In this light, many questions arise, and I question myself if I am one of those living their lives in quiet desperation.

Are you?

Do you?

Based on my observation of the human condition and my learning on human behaviour, I conclude that our lives grow within three stages: Dreaming, Discovering, and Resignation.

I confess that I lead my life marked by unfulfilled desires, suppressed emotions, and resignation.

Undoubtedly, we live our lives within these three stages, and we cannot escape any of them. Whether they (any of these three stages) bring satisfaction or sorrows is up to the individual, how he or she sees or perceives his or her reality, or the outcome of his or her actions.

Most things overwhelm us; moreover, in today’s lifestyles, in this era of disinformation and misinformation, we go through our lives without even living them fully, afraid of everything, doubtful of our abilities to pursue our dreams.

What disconnects us from ourselves, the reality, and our goals?

For this is the tragedy of today: disconnection. This withdrawal, voluntary or not, affects everything in our lives, relations, family, mental health, and quality of life.

What is the solution then?

Breaking free from this quiet desperation requires strength of spirit. Can you train your spirit, and how? Regretfully, there is no magic formula. Only you must respond to this question, for the answer is in yourself.

I hope you can answer this question. For if you have the answer, then you will be able to break the vicious circle of quiet desperation, and you will be able to challenge the status quo which keeps you a prisoner of yourself.

Do you want to be free? Learn how to liberate your spirit, for in its liberation lies the opportunity to break free of your quiet desperation that swallows the joy of your life.
