With Our Eyes Closed Tight
Hello, my friend,
I'm happy to introduce you to my new poem, "With Our Eyes Closed Tight," whose title I took from the poem's first line. The message I convey in this poem is that we must strive to live a purposeful life, make the most of our time, and create our own history. Moreover, through this poem, I encourage you to be bold, take control of your journey, and illuminate your path with courage, resilience, and determination.
I hope you enjoy the poem and its message, and please don't be shy to comment on how this poem may have impacted you and your vision of life and death.
With Our Eyes Closed Tight
(A poem by Sal Godoij.)
With our eyes closed tight
Clenched fists, and as if to warn
The world with our cry
It's the way we're born
It's the way we feel the light.
Rough or soft, winding or straight
A road lies ahead, a road we must walk
Or the road isn't there, and it's just empty talk.
Yet I say to myself, you must be wise
You must see through the disguise
Listen to the best advise
Become your own jury
Write your own history.
Alas, but death sets us apart
From what we love, from what we hate
And so, holding our tears at the celestial Gate
Do we look back, do we still fear?
What do we dread? Aye, it's not death
No, it's not death that we dread
But to leave the life we've lived
Having nothing in our will, still, nothing achieved.
