I Think We Exist

Dear friend, I hope you are well. I am pleased to share my existential poem with you.

I suggest that we, human beings, are fundamentally fragmented. We are a puzzle in which half the pieces are kept in our own pockets, while strangers hold the key to our other half. And so, we spend our whole lives trying to trade with them to see the full picture, never quite trusting the result.

What do you think?

I cordially invite you to comment and share your thoughts about my meditation with the audience on LinkedIn and beyond.

Peace and love.

I Think We Exist

(An existential poem by Sal Godoij.)

I think I am a human being.

I know who I am; therefore, I exist.

I know that, like me, other human beings exist.

Therefore, we exist because we know.

If we know we exist, then we think.

If we think, then I exist.

I exist to me, but to exist complete

I depend on others who hold my identity.

But then, if to exist I must go through what is not myself

Am I who I think I am?

Am I the one in solitude or the one in a crowd?

I know others can’t be me.

And I cannot be me without others.

This unsolvable existential paradox is man’s tragedy

Embedded in his condition.

Sal is a Canadian writer, philosopher, poet, and indie publisher, author of a thought-provoking narrative that contains mystical messages. Sal believes in miracles, which he claims have accentuated his life, so many of his stories reflect these portents. Sal sustains that we all have a message to divulge in this life. Thus, he encourages us to make our voice heard, firstly in our inner self, then on to our neighbours, and henceforward into the universe.
