The Map Of Reality
Dear friend, I’m pleased to share my parable, which comes from a meditation on temporality. To me, human life often entangles with the past and future, but action and consciousness can occur only through the unstable, vanishing aperture of the present.
I hope you read it and find it interesting; if so, I invite you to enrich this parable with your comments, for which I’m always grateful.
Peace and love.
Sal
The Map Of Reality
(A parable on temporality by Sal Godoij.)
The future is swift as a thought, light, and slippery.
It’s here and then gone.
The future is like fireworks. It’s dreams, colours, fire and smoke.
You can’t live in the future.
You slip, and you are in the present.
In the universe’s metric system, the unit of measurement of the future is dreams.
The past is wide, deep, heavy, and sticky, and slippery, too.
It’s there, and it’s here, and it’s now.
Still, you can live in the past. It’s not advisable, but you can live there if you wish.
You slip, fall on your back, and want to lie there, like you don’t want to stand up.
In the universe’s metric system, the unit of measurement of the past is memories.
The present is swift, narrow, shallow, and very slippery.
It’s here and now and then gone.
You live in the present, but not all the time. You are in but not within.
It’s not a must, but it’s advisable to live in the present most of the time.
If you decide to live in the present, the here and now, you must live and let live.
Otherwise, you won’t live the life you hope for.
Everything you do, think, dream, hope, or believe happens in the present.
In the universe’s metric system, the unit of measurement of the present is breaths: inhale, exhale.
