In the Land of Neverland
Hello again, my romantic friend. I'm pleased to share another of my love poems with you. As I always do, I cordially invite you to reflect on its message, which explores the life-changing power of love and what we leave behind when we grow up. Me? I think I'm still a child. I can see the little boy still in me living in his world of fantasy, powered by love, and I can feel how happy he is.
Warmly,
Sal
In the Land of Neverland
(A poem by Sal Godoij.)
Have I grown up with your love?
I don't know
Has your love matured me?
I don't know
In your arms, I always feel like a child
Has your love made me an adult?
I don't think so
Love makes us all innocent
Curious, candid, sincere persons
I want to keep in myself these virtues
The virtues of a child
Alas, life transforms us all
Ah! But love transforms us all, too
It goes into our heads, like wine
It goes into our hearts, like a burning arrow
Love closes our eyes; it blinds us
We don't know what we're, sometimes
We dream. We dream we're heroes
Still, life persists in making us adults
Life demands that we confront it as it is
Aye! I refuse to become an adult
And thus, I want to go back in time
Find myself in my mother's bosom again
But I can’t elude the present
With its buckets of honey
With its bouquets of thorns
And so, in your arms, my love, in your arms I wish
I wish you were a fairy lady
Who, by the power of your magic wand
Keep us both together, girl and boy forever
In the land of Neverland.
