Moon In Love

(A poem by Sal Godoij.)

Full moon, bright moon,

What are you doing up there

In the blue sky at noon?

Have you lost your mind?

You who are truly one of a kind

Have you broken up with the night

Because you have fallen for the light?

Ah! Love is such a mischievous sprite,

But that mischievous sprite turns you into a fool.

Don’t be a fool; be a jewel

Which you are; a jewel on the throne of the night.

Oh, dear moon, I love to see you in daytime

But it’s at night where you shine; at night

Transparent

The light makes you transparent; the light.

Powerful

The night makes you powerful; the night.

I want to see you in full; full and bright

Full and bright in the sky tonight.

Don’t stay up in the sky, at any time of day

At any time of the day, I say

Certainly not at midday.

Return to the stars

They are missing you, the stars

Don’t carve scars

In the heart of the night.

Come back,

Please come back bright to the sky, tonight!
