Selfies
Dear friend,
I introduce here an apparently light subject, but most necessary nowadays.
During the pick hour, a man checking his cellphone while crossing a heavy traffic street demanded that drivers swerve dangerously or brake suddenly to avoid hitting him.
Yes, it’s acceptable to check your cell phone every 30 seconds, but it’s not okay to check it, and least of all to stop to take a selfie while crossing a busy street—the equivalent of taking selfies to impress your friends in dangerous places or situations.
As technology advances, supported by amazing AI technology, most of us have normalized this behaviour; thus, something as simple as paying attention to what surrounds us has become increasingly complex.
I didn’t take a picture of this incident, so I used the photo below to illustrate the event I refer to. I think it depicts the event quite well.
And so, have you been in a likewise situation? I hope not. I hope you are always careful and check your cellphones, or take selfies, in places where it is safe to do so.
