In The Shadow of a Dream

(A poem by Sal Godoij.)

To live in the shadow of a dream

Is a defeat of the spirit

An earlier fall into the grave

Don’t ever do that, my friend, my brother, my sister

Don’t ever live in the shadow of a dream

Fight, fight to reach it, to conquer it

Grab its fruits, enjoy them

Don’t let go away, that dream

For a dream is like a tree

High up in the horizon of your life

A tree that invites you to reach its treetop

Climb up, my friend, my brother, my sister

Climb up to the treetop!

Don’t ever remain in the shadow of that tree.

Thus, he encourages us to make our voice heard, firstly in our inner self, then on to our neighbours, and henceforward into the universe.
