Listen To My Silence
(A Poem by Sal Godoij.)
Listen, my love, listen not with your ears
But with your heart.
Listen to my silence.
Silence is the fountain where God drinks.
Instead
Words are toys the Devil plays with
I know words are the bars of my prison
But I don’t want to be free; I want to be yours.
And thus, I prefer to address you
With the same quietude
The morning dew addresses the lilies
When I look into your eyes
When I embrace you.
No. My lips are not whispering words
My tears are
Oh, my love, my dove
Place your heart in my chest and listen to the susurrus
Of my lonely nights
How I miss you in those moments
Of solitude that bleeds me
Bleeds me like sunset bleeds the clouds
Some silences are set apart for consecration
Like the serenity of the flowers when they bloom
The gentle stream flowing down from the mountain
Doesn’t carry pebbles
Just clear, pure, transparent water
Likewise, my love for you carries no words
Just my clear, serene, transparent silence.
